Meet Our Staff

Korina McGill, Director and Lead Teacher
Korina is the director at the preschool and also enjoys being a lead teacher, a position she has held for over 10 years now.  She loves teaching in a small classroom environment and tailoring each child's ability to their specific needs. She believes all children can learn no matter their ability. " It is my job to move them forward to the finish line. I understand each child's abilities will vary, but they'll get there!" Both of her children attended SPP and had a wonderful learning experience. Korina has her bachelors degree in Speech Pathology from Peace College and went on to earn her Masters in Education degree from UNCG. She is married with two children.

Su Columbi - Lead Teacher

Su has been here for 13 years. She started when her daughter went off to Kindergarten. She has mostly taught the 4 year old classes, but has also been the lead teacher in the 2 and 3 year old classes. She loves getting up each morning knowing that "I am going to be working with young children. They are smart, funny and savvy! Besides having fun in the classroom and laughing a lot, I want my children to learn respect for themselves and others, know they have a voice and how to use it, and have a sense of pride in themselves, their work and their school. I want them to love coming to school!" Su graduated from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. She is married with two children.

Sandy Hammed - Lead Teacher

Mrs. Hammed has been here for over 11 years. She has taught the 2, 3 and 4 year old classes! She loves being here because she loves to see that light bulb moment when a child grasps a concept or an idea and then the light grows brighter as they fully understand! Her goal and philosophy of teaching, in addition to academics, is that she believes it's just as important to teach kindness, respect and good manners toward each other and how to be a good friend which is sometimes overlooked in our society. Her favorite event here is Music and Movement. She loves to see each child's self-expression and interpretive movements. She is married and has three daughters.

Kim Smith - Lead Teacher

Ms. Kim has been here for over 8 years. She has been the lead teacher in the 2s, 3s and the 18 month class. She loves the children “and the people I work with are great! We have a lot of fun here at SPP!” Both of her children started here when they were 2. Every year I look forward to Field Day. The kids and teachers have a ball. Afterwards all the parents come and we have a family picnic. It’s great for everyone to get together. She is married and has two children.
